Eating for mind, body and soul

In today’s fast-paced, high-demand world, we have become a culture focused on convenience and that includes how we eat. When hunger strikes, it’s much easier to open a can, unwrap a package or pop a lid than it is to actually prepare a fresh meal. But according to holistic nutritionists, the cost of convenience is not so much the impact on your pocketbook, as it is the impact on your health. With the epidemic rise of obesity and diabetes, the link to your health and what you eat has taken centre stage and many are looking to holistic nutrition as a way to not only feed their bodies but heal themselves as well.

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food,” – Hippocrates

 There is no one way of eating that is perfect for everyone.  And unfortunately there is no magic pill or herb that can replace a good diet.  If you do nothing else to improve your health, a change in diet will have the biggest impact.

Depending on your current health situation, we will create a nutritional program that will begin the healing process but also fits within your budget and ability.  It could be a simple as cutting out a few food items that are aggravating your health, or a major over haul.  Either way you will have my full support during the transition!

Basic Principals for healthy eating

The properties of natural nutrients are best summed up in these four words: natural, alive, good quality.

Natural, as in unprocessed, unrefined foods, such as whole grains and legumes.

Alive, meaning that it still contains live enzymes, such as fruit, vegetables, and sprouts.

Good quality, meaning grown in soil rich in essential nutrients such as organically grown foods (pesticide free and grown without synthetic fertilizers).

Changes that are always seen with a healthy change in diet:

  • weight management
  • Disease prevention

  • Increased energy levels

  • Improved mood

  • Better sleep

  • Improved skin tone and texture

  • Strengthened immune system

  • Balanced blood sugar levels

  • Reduced cholesterol and blood pressure levels

  • Improved digestion and relief from constipation
